Lesson Times

Lesson times are scheduled at the mutual agreement of teacher and client, subject to the availability of open lesson times.

Lesson Fees

Teacher offers two options for payment of lesson fees: per lesson or monthly in advance. Fees are payable by check, PayPal, or Apple Pay.

Option 1: Payment in full is due at the end of each lesson.

Option 2: Payment for the upcoming month (4 or 5 lessons) is due at the end of the last lesson of the previous month.

A late fee of $10 will be assessed if payment has not been received by one week after the due date.

Teacher is happy to assist with selecting an instrument to rent or purchase and instrument setup questions. This service is provided at the lesson hourly rate.

Contact Details

Teacher accepts phone calls and texts between 9am and 8pm Pacific time. Email is accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Teacher will reply within 24 hours.

Cancelling Lessons and Make-up Lessons

Scheduled lesson times are reserved for the individual student and cannot be readily rebooked on short notice.

Teacher or client will give 24 hour notice if either is unable to keep a scheduled lesson time, except in case of illness and family emergencies. Notice can be given by phone, text, or email.

If the client misses a lesson without the required notice, it will be billed at the normal rate. If the client is on the monthly payment option, no refunds will be given for missed lessons without the required notice.

Any lesson that is cancelled by the teacher will be made up. 

As a courtesy, the teacher will attempt to make up lessons cancelled by the client. These make-up lessons are not guaranteed. 

Lessons that are missed without prior notification to the teacher will not be made up.

Participation

Progress in learning is largely the result of consistent, quality practice between lessons. As a guideline, practice daily the same length of time as your lesson. 

For minor age students, it is required that a parent or guardian observe each lesson. It is expected that the parent or guardian will coach their child’s practice, including referring to lesson videos while practicing.

Bring all current music books, instrument, and video recording device (camera, phone, or tablet) to each lesson. 

Studio classes may be scheduled to give students an opportunity to perform for their colleagues. Participation is required. The provisions of Cancelling Lessons and Make-up Lessons apply to studio classes as well.

Privacy Policy

Teacher will not display any images, video, or recordings of students without client’s written authorization to do so. We kindly ask you for the same courtesy and not post any recordings (audio or video) made during lessons to social media or elsewhere on the Internet without teacher’s written permission.

Policy Changes

This studio policy may be amended with one month’s notice. Notice will be given by email and also posted on the studio website.
