Welcome

I offer cello lessons at all pre-professional levels, from beginner to undergraduate, and ages 4 and up, including adults.

Great news! The studio is reopening to lessons in person on June 15, 2021. I will also continue to offer the option of online lessons over Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype. Contact us today to schedule a lesson time.

The San Jose studio is an inviting environment that encourages creative but focused exploration of the amazing thing we call music.

Music is a tool for human expression that has evolved in every known culture. Like language, music is learned through exposure, so I encourage students (and parents) to listen frequently to both live and recorded performances.

All lessons are video recorded. I record lesson material for the student to watch and listen to between lessons. This exposes students to live performance vs. relying on canned recordings.

I teach the effective, efficient use of the body as informed by the methods used by my own teacher, Irene Sharp, and the Alexander Technique. This prevents pain and injury and allows playing without physical limitations.

Pre-college-age students require an adult coach between lessons to help focus practice and learning, using the lesson videos.
